Where are you located?
We are based in Annecy, France.
Do you travel for shoots?
All the time. We believe consistency within a client’s marketing/web portfolio is important, and using the same photographer for as many projects as possible helps maintain a cohesive look.
What gear do you use?
It really depends on the project, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
What are the steps for a photo shoot with you?
Our process follows ten steps from initial inquiry to final delivery and invoicing. To see my process in full detail, click here.
How many photographs can you create in a day?
We generally create eight to twelve photographs in a full day. This number can vary depending on the size of the project, the complexity of the photos, and how much staging, styling, and lighting need to be done. Some clients request as few as four photographs, and some, of course, need many more.
Why does it take so long?
While an architectural or interior photograph may look simple, clean, and effortless—nothing could be further from the truth. A well-executed architectural photograph involves many factors such as composition, time of day, adding light, removing light, styling, moving furniture, adding models, etc.
Do you offer drone images?
Yes! We are fully certified and insured drone pilots in Europe.
What are your rates?
We operate using two basic fees: Creative Fee and Post Production Fee.
Creative Fee: This component reflects the time and skill it takes to complete the project, including pre-production tasks: Client meetings, advance site visits, and other site-specific preparation. The Creative Fee also includes a boilerplate set of 10 yrs standard licensing rights (Editorial, Trade Show Display, Corporate Collateral, Website, Social Media [photo credit required], Professional Competitions, Trade Magazines, and Wall Display).
Post Production Fee: After the initial shoot, we spend a significant amount of time editing your images to make them perfect. This can include color correction, retouching, compositing, and preparing master files for final delivery. It is not unusual for the Post Production work to consume as much time as the photography.
Rate sheets available upon request, send us an email and we’ll get it right out to you!
What is cost sharing?
Sharing the cost of a project is a common and valuable practice. It is very beneficial to consider other parties who might benefit from photographs of your project: The owner, interior designers, landscape architects, contractors, consultants, tenants, product manufacturers, engineers, etc. We charge a licensing fee for each additional party, then divide the total fee by the number of parties involved, which can lead to huge savings for each client.
Do you offer discounts?
The best way to reduce your fees for a project is to take advantage of the cost-sharing opportunity outlined above. The more people you can round up with a need for photos of the project, the cheaper it gets for everyone.
Do you offer half-day rates?
By the time we pack up our gear, head to a job site, unload our gear, walk-through the space, setup for our photos, deal with people and or other challenges/delays on a shoot, tear down our gear, return to the studio, unpack our gear, and download the images, there really isn’t enough time to schedule another client in a day. What we can do is photograph multiple spaces/locations for a single client in a day if they’re within close proximity of one another.
License & Usage
Who owns the images after a shoot?
All of our images are intellectual property. We retain the copyrights to all the images we create. Images are licensed to clients for specific use and duration.
Think of it like software. If you “buy” Microsoft Office, you don’t technically own it, Microsoft does. You’ve simply purchased a license for use on your machine. This doesn’t mean you can install it on every computer in your workplace (without buying additional licenses) or share it with other people to install on their machines (like friends, family, neighbors, etc.). Each of those other people would need to license their own copy from Microsoft.
Is there a standard license included with your fee?
Our standard licensing includes 10 years of the following rights: Editorial, Trade Show Display, Corporate Collateral, Website, Social Media (photo credit required), Professional Competitions, Trade Magazines, and Wall Display.
Can I share the images I licensed with others, like subcontractors, owners?
Third-party usage is not included with our standard licensing. Others interested in using the images must obtain appropriate usage license from us in order to avoid infringement.
How can I license images that you created for another client?
Just shoot us an email with details on which image(s) and we’ll send you back an invoice followed by a link to download the image(s).
Can I post the images to social media?
Absolutely! We want your project to get as much traction as possible. Social media usage is included in our standard license for 10 years. We simply require a photo credit for all social media posts. @thomas_bekker
